I have too much time on my hands:

tomorrow is not a promise

'You don't know if the flowers for your funeral are in bloom today' ~ Pastor Jeremy.

Yikes. I do try to live in the moment, but I've never really thought about procrastination as part of that. I'll never procrastinate again. :)

sneak peek

I guess once you hit preschool, the cool thing to do is to invite all your school friends to your parties. Andrew has been invited to 3 birthday parties and a Halloween party so far this year. This is the first party we've been able to make it to. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had fun chatting with the other parents, and Andrew loved seeing his friends outside of school.

And just a quick picture of Mason rockin' his skeleton shirt.

October sunshine

Just a little more evidence that we love the fall. :)

A very serious Batman.

I love this. I tried to get some pictures of Mason in the leaves but he wasn't interested. I asked Matt to just move him to the tree and I was ready to take some shots. This is him going as fast as he can back to the spot he was before Matt moved him. :)

if you have to work, it might as well be fun

I think my office celebrates holidays just the right amount. We had fun this year with a little pumpkin carving contest and a few costumes. If you have to work, it might as well be fun, right?

we're mean, tough pirates

I would say we play pirates almost every day. We don't usually dress up, but when we do pull out the costumes, this is usually the first thing he digs out. I didn't get any good pictures of Mason today, but he plays too. He likes to sit on the ship and have sword fights.

You'll have to take my word for it that he's just as mean & tough - you don't want to mess with the three of us! :)

field trip

Andrew's class went on their first field trip today to Remlinger Farms. I had so much fun watching him play with his little buddies. They're all so darn cute!

When Miss Kelly asked me if I would like to go, I had to hold back my excitement! Not only was it Andrew's first field trip, but it was to a pumpkin patch! And, on top of that, it was to one I've always wanted to see but have never been interested in paying $15 (each) to visit. It was well worth the $8 (and if you have a little extra money and a lot of time to spend there, I could see how they can charge what they do...it's pretty cool).

I was in charge of driving and making sure Andrew and Sam (the boy standing in front of the pile of pumpkins with Andrew) made it through the two-hour tour without getting lost. We made it back in one piece, so hopefully I'll be asked to help next time!!

full body rash - no problem

Mason got a rash last night that took over his whole body. Since daycare doesn't allow you to be there with a rash, plus it was weird looking, we decided to go see the doc. Thankfully it's nothing to worry about. And it doesn't seem to bother him, so other than him looking a bit crazy, he's fine.

You can kind of see the rash in these pictures. It's a bunch tiny red dots over every inch of his body. The doctor's best guess is that it is a lingering effect from his cold.

Since doctor appointments always take forever, I took Andrew to school so he wouldn't have to hang out with us. It was fun to have a little time with Mason. And I picked a great day - he was doing all sorts of new stuff today. Seriously, every hour he was pulling out a new trick. The best is he has started to nod yes now. And he clearly understands the difference between yes and no! He also told me after he went poo. It was crazy. He also said a few new words - he's starting to have too many to keep track of. It's awesome!

We ended the night with a little hot cocoa. I decided Mason was ready for a mug. :) How cute is he? Andrew chose the kind that had marshmallows then asked for extra marshmallows. He doesn't mess around!

This is just a little video I took of Mason playing today. I've been trying to catch his dance moves and finally caught a bit.

so cute

I love pictures taken from behind. I also think pictures of me taking pictures are fun. So, that makes this picture that Ryean took, one of the coolest ever!! :o)

This is the picture I was taking:

And I threw in this cropped version because seriously, how cute are these boys?!

carving pumpkins

After the pumpkin patch we all headed to our house for dinner and some pumpkin carving. It was such a fun night!

Ryean makes a delicious caprese salad! :)

Don't ask me....?

Kai looked at Andrew (while they were eating roasted pumpkin seeds) and said "this is the best night EVER!". Then Andrew said "Yeah!" and came and told me, then told Matt the same thing. It was fun to watch them play - they had so much fun the whole night!

Here's our pumpkins! Matt carved them all. Andrew drew his again this year - the dot between the eyes is an owie (pretty sure he just wanted to keep using a sharpie and this is what he came up with).

So fun! I love October!

the farm

We had a good time at The Farm on Saturday - even though it was a quick trip thanks to the crazy looming storm. At least we got out of there without spending any money since we weren't there long enough! :) Our next trip will be for Andrew's school field trip on Tuesday. I can't wait!

10.23.2010

our pumpkins

We didn't get any pumpkins at our last pumpkin patch visit because they didn't really have any good ones left. Plus they were 45 cents a pound (compared to 18 cents at the grocery store) and the line was insanely long. We're going to a pumpkin patch today so we were just going to buy them there, but I was a little worried we'd run into the same problems so we decided to head to Safeway instead. Almost just as fun...

goodbye for now, zoo

We took advantage of the (possibly last) nice day with a trip to the zoo. I was extra happy with our decision because I found out my membership expires at the end of the month! We won't be renewing it for a couple reasons, but it's okay since we don't really go much during the fall and winter anyway. I hope to be back at it by spring though because we all love it. Mason has really started to enjoy it the last few times - each time a little more - and this visit was no different. Both boys enjoyed the heck out of the zoo today.
