I have too much time on my hands:

photo shoot

Grandma Cindy has an 8x10 frame that she likes to keep (fairly) updated of the boys. She asked for a new one, but since most of my pictures are candid, I couldn't find one I thought would look great as an 8x10. So I decided it was time for a photo shoot along our fence. I think we ended with a few good options! And all I had to do was bribe them with a peanut butter cup and they were both willing to give up 3 minutes of their morning. : )

castle park

On the trail to the park today Andrew grabbed Mason's hand. It's so cute I can hardly stand it!

We had a fun time at Castle Park today. Mason has flipped a switch and is now the most adventurous kid at the park. He has no fear, thinks he's at least 4 and loves to jump. For the last week or so he's been jumping off anything he can. If he sticks the landing he'll clap and look to make sure I was watching; if falls he'll get right back up and try again. Poor kid has bruises all over his legs to prove it.

our weather

This is how our whole summer has been!

Today:

Yesterday:

Yesterday we hit the hottest day of the year so far (about 85) and today it rained. That's why I can't let one sunny day go by unappreciated - we never know what the next day will bring.

wanna sit on the same side?

This is their new thing. : )

bikes

The last time we rode bikes, Mason couldn't quite reach the pedals if he was doing anything other than going straight. He's in luck! He's grown enough to officially ride his trike! To celebrate, we headed to the cul-de-sac for some serious bike ridin' time. Adorable!

fun with the SLR...

I'm pretty good at drinkin' beer

Matt and I both love a good beer, and oddly have a similar taste for our favorites (it's odd because it's really the only thing food-related that we agree on). Anyway, we found that we didn't really have a strong opinion on light beer, so we did what any normal couple would do and conducted a taste test...

The exciting outcome of the test: we both selected Bud Light. So now we know.

I feel like adding a disclaimer. I actually prefer Corona Light over these three, but unfortunately they seem to have forgotten to put alcohol in it, so it loses a few points based on that...

Anna!

On Saturday we celebrated Anna, the lovely bachelorette! Welcome to the g-rated overview of a great, not g-rated night!

Part of the evening included a burlesque dance lesson, which ended up to be so much fun!

The end!

Anna & Alex are getting married on 9.10.11 - I'm looking forward to seeing this bunch of crazies again. And I think it will be pretty neat to meet Alex...

a long day

Today was a long, but alright, day. We started off by spending some good quality time at a few stores (Kohls - returns and shopping to spend my $20 in Kohls cash, Target for birthday gifts and Sears for more returns). We rode escalators and stopped off at the play area to break it up, and they did great.

Since I knew we'd be out for a while, I packed a lunch and planned to find a park wherever we were at lunch time. Luckily we were on our way home by 11:30, so we were able to go to one of our favorite parks (where we randomly ran into some friends!).

When we got home, Andrew wanted some water balloons. We didn't have any on hand so we decided to fill up regular balloons with water. Almost as cool...

...with a way cooler splash!

Mason created his first Mr Potato Head creation.

Then we got ready to sell the MG. This is the car that Matt and AJ drove to our wedding in. Matt had planned to fix it up but realized he was never going to do it, so decided to sell it. The person who is buying it went to get cash out but he maxed out his ATM withdrawal for the day so we're doing it tomorrow. Hopefully! We've had a lot of people interested but it always falls though. This guy wants it, I just hope this extra day didn't give him time to change his mind.

We finished the day off with a couple drinks at church. : ) It's too long of a story to share here, but I wanted to be sure to remember this since it's a big change for our church. The short version is that our church is separating into 4 separate campuses and this was the launch (or re-launch since we're going to the same place) of our campus. Our church knows how to throw a good party, inspire you and talk about God all in the same hour. I love that place! (PS. On the big screen you can see the finalists (of which a representative from our table was up there, thank you!) for the game of Say What?! that we played. Just didn't want anyone to get confused). : )

summer (no quotes needed!)

We had a real, actual summer day on Tuesday, and we soaked it up.

I love that Andrew is using this as his little clubhouse. He loves to hang out up here with his friends and play with his lego heros.

I was just playing with my new camera here, but how cute is he?! I love these.

We ended with a little tent/tunnel maze. I've already said this, but the older kids do such a good job of playing with Mason - it's great. Cam came out to ask for help untying a tunnel and told us they're playing with it because Mason wanted to. : )

grandpa Mel should be proud

The last time we rode these cars, the guy running it couldn't make change for my $20 so he just told me to pay next time we visited rather than writing a $5 check. I'm sure my boys thank him for that because of course we wouldn't just pay him and not ride them again! This time Andrew picked the motorcycle and Mason went with Lightening again.

Mason

Sometimes when I move my pictures over to my computer I notice a trend. This batch was full of pictures that caught Mason being Mason.

I couldn't resist a buns shot. He loves bath time and has just recently realized he doesn't have to always just sit while in the tub. I think he'd love a chance at swim lessons - I might need to look into that.

This picture pretty much sums up Mason: paci, bed head, copying Andrew (no shirt) with something cozy to hold (sometimes it's this bear, sometimes a blanky). I love it!

My dad got me this coffee cup that looks like a camera lens. I guess Mason could tell it wasn't normal because he was very interested in it. Hopefully I taught him that camera lenses are toys and are a good thing to put liquid in... : )

Mason likes to help me with the laundry, but usually he helps by trying to knock over my piles or by trying to carry a stack of folded clothes away. This time he actually gave folding a shot. Not the best helper, actually.

"summer"

Andrew has liked Tim since he was very little. Even though Tim has never lived close to us, he always remembers him and it doesn't take long at all for him to warm up to him. It's pretty adorable, really. Today Tim taught him how to swing from a willow tree.

They also spent some time discussing the fact that they have the same middle name. : )

I love this picture for a few reasons. First, I always love pictures taken from behind, especially shoulder rides! Second, Andrew is holding a huge bouquet of flowers he picked, and third you can see the beautiful summer sky... I know I've said it about 193 times, but the weather this summer has been nuts!

the fam

We went to my parents' house on Saturday to celebrate my grandma's retirement. The boys have fun digging into all the random stuff my parents have...

Mason decided to try on some doll shoes.

Andrew found the hula-hoop.

You realize how big your family is when you all try to fit into one picture! : )
