I have too much time on my hands:

not quite a day at the beach

Every time I mop, the boys seem to slip. And every time it's a little bit funny to me. Don't worry, they don't get hurt - that would take the fun out of it. And to make sure they don't get hurt, once I get my reminder that they don't understand how to walk carefully on a slippery floor, I get them towels and they help me dry it up. For some reason they both had more fun than usual with that job today.

healthy boys: check!

Mason had his regular blood test to check his levels today (all is good) and they both got their flu shots. I am the proud owner of two healthy boys!

They were also extremely adorable while enjoying their hot chocolate.

remlinger farms

I went with Andrew's class on their field trip to Remlinger Farms today. It was a beautiful day and Andrew had a good time. Other than that, it was nuts! The director has pretty much decided they won't be back next year because it's just too busy and too crazy.

These two have been friends since they were babies. They play together a lot more now that Andrew's other buddies headed to kindergarten. (She's growing her hair for locks of love - how sweet is that?!)

This bouncy hay barn was my favorite part. Andrew's favorite part was the train ride. Unfortunately I couldn't get any pictures because we were so crammed in there that I had to turn sideways and Andrew was wedged between me and a lady (not in our group). It was nuts!

In the end you get to pick a pumpkin, which is always cool. Andrew's on to them though - he knows this isn't a real pumpkin patch! (just a pile of pumpkins). : )

picture day

Can you spot the boys? : )

Today we got our family pictures taken by a friend of mine who happens to be a ridiculously wonderful photographer. This is not her work. : ) But I couldn't resist a few pictures in front of this fun wall while we waited...

movie night

A few of us got together for movie night on Saturday.

Mason doesn't really care about TV yet. Andrew, on the other hand, is in love with it.

Even though only about half of the kids cared about the movie, we did have a couple minutes with all of them on the couch. Cute!

pumpkins

We support pumpkin patches, but buying pumpkins from them is not how we do it. We go to the grocery store for that!

Done and done!

hutch

The day we put an offer on our house, there were two things I instantly knew I wanted to do if we got it. One was to paint the outside of our house (not done yet, mainly because it was freshly painted before we moved in, I'm just not a fan of the color) and the other was to get a hutch or buffet table for the kitchen (not done until this weekend, mainly because they're crazy expensive!).

Before:

After:

And now for the fine details of why it's so lovely, other than the fact that it's pretty:

1. We saved $650!

2. I finally have a place for my rad "D" plates

3. And a place for this platter

4. And a place for all of our large bulky serving dishes

I love it!

balloons

Matt was able to bring a bunch of balloons home from work today. Mason loves balloons. Andrew likes them, too (especially helium balloons that he can jump for and try to grab). And I love them because they never fail to make for cute pictures - no posing necessary.

ha!

Andrew found our old Pooh costume and got Mason to put it on. I don't know why exactly, but this picture cracks me up.

"You're goin' down Pooh" ... It was cracking us up all night - you just don't hear people threatening Winnie the Pooh all that often. : )

winter hat

Grandma Cindy sent a new hat for Mason. It wasn't that cold today, but he loves hats so he decided to wear it. It cracks me up - I feel like he belongs in Minnesota (that's for you Gamratds!).

d.a.d

I am loving this little 'school' time with Andrew. We're basically doing the same kind of stuff we always do but with intentional teaching mixed in. Instead of just sponge painting, we're sponge painting with dinosaurs (for 'd'), etc. And an added bonus, Andrew loves it.

I really don't plan to post much about our school time stuff, but today was a fun day. Andrew spelled his first word!! We're working our way through the alphabet A to Z and once I realized he would be able to spell 'dad' I got really excited. The excitement quickly left when Andrew told me he didn't want to do it. : ) But day two brought success and he was very proud of himself.

memory verse

Andrew was given his first memory verse on Sunday. If he memorizes it he gets a piece of candy. Apparently candy is a good motivator! : )

After I recorded Andrew, Mason let me know he wanted a turn. It made Andrew laugh so hard he could hardly catch his breath. It was awesome.

d is for doctor

We're working our way through the alphabet, one craft project at a time (thanks to a website I found through Pinterest). I thought the project for 'D' was pretty clever, and both boys really liked it, so I thought I'd post it just for fun.

go seahawks!

too many bees

We went to Fall City Farms on Saturday. Unfortunately, there were so many bees that we had to cut our trip short. Although I admit I probably like pumpkin patches more than my boys do, the real reason is still for them to have fun. And with Andrew constantly freaking out over the bees, that was not happening. That's okay - we'll hit up a few more before the season is done!

33 years

Today is my dad's wheelchair anniversary. I was 2 months old when he got in his motorcycle accident, so I'm pretty thankful he's in a wheelchair rather than the other option. : )

This is my favorite picture of him not in a chair. I don't have any pictures of him holding me while standing (otherwise that would be my favorite, I'm sure).

Love you dad.

little rascals {soccer}

Andrew is finally on a team (sort of)! We've been wanting to get him into soccer for about a year now but keep forgetting about deadlines... We got a deal for a soccer clinic and decided to sign him up. He is now a proud member of the Little Rascals! : )

We had these shin guards, thanks to some great hand-me-downs, and Andrew was very excited to wear them.

Just kicking the ball around, warming up.

Stretching. : ) We were a little worried that there were only going to be 4 people in the group, but a bunch more showed up a couple minutes after I took this picture.

At the end they did a little team handshake. (Andrew is the one in yellow with his hand up - not the tall guy that looks exactly like him...).

legos

Andrew is loving Legos these days! He's had the obsession with the Lego heros for a while now, and has always played with Legos, but lately they've moved way up on his list.

He decided today that he wanted his birthday to be about Legos. So, to get some inspiration we decided to make our first visit to the Lego store at Bell Square. It is awesome! Andrew had a great time. He came home with a few Lego people that he created, a new Lego hero (that we had been searching for), a Christmas gift (a Lego advent calendar - can't wait!!) and something for his friends to take home from his party.

I just thought this was cute... Lego people riding in the cool cars my dad gave him. : )

story time

We decided to try out story time at the library again, and I'm happy to report we're ready to get back into it! The session is for 3 - 5 year olds, and since Mason thinks he's 4, it worked out just fine.

cheers for a relaxing weekend

We created a new game tonight by hiding little lego people in the ball pit and racing to see who could find them. It was the most exciting thing we did all weekend.
