I have too much time on my hands:

today

I can't sleep so I figured I might as well update the blog while I wait for SNL to start.

Today it was just me and the boys. I had a couple things I needed to get done and it worked out perfectly for us to go to the fun Bellevue Square play area along the way (I dressed Mason for the occasion).

One of the things on my to-do list was to get an 'M' charm for Mason. After Andrew was born I got a beautiful 'a' charm necklace. I wanted something different for Mason but haven't had much luck. I decided to go to a store that is known for having good stuff :) and sure enough I found the perfect thing. Unfortunately they had to order the charm part of it for me, so no picture. Mason did like to have the bag on his head for some reason, so that'll have to do for now.

On the way home we stopped at Starbucks to let Mason finish up his nap. This is Andrew trying to smile and drink at the same time. He did it to be funny, he was on fire today!

Here he's trying to sneak some more Nerds. He told me I should look out my window for a long time. But then he just started laughing so hard he couldn't hardly even talk. He is really, really bad at being sneaky.

I was so glad that I was able to catch this. I swear Mason knows what he's doing when he does stuff like this. I remember when he was just learning how to roll around - he would roll right on top of whatever Andrew was playing with. He's lucky Andrew is such an easy going guy!

We had a pretty fun day until about 9:00 when Mason woke up sick. He had a good hour or so of being sick and is now back to sleep. I'm really hoping that the mini corn dogs just didn't settle in his stomach. Although I will not be surprised if this gets passed around our house... dang it!!

theme

Color in a dreary winter month.

I don't know how to sum this up, so here's the deal with this post. A friend of mine is following a blog by a friend of hers. She is doing a monthly theme as a way to help people pay attention to the little details in life. Since I love paying attention to the little details in life (it's kind of what I do) :0) my goal is to take her theme and pick just one picture that I think fits it best. Since I take 34597690 pictures a month it might be a bit tricky, but it sounds like a fun goal to me. In case you want to follow along, here's my friend's blog post. My posts will be titled 'theme'.

And, I love this picture.

random

Random stuff. Mostly pictures I don't want to lose.

Mason copies everything Andrew does. Everything.

My little Clark Kent. He didn't know how rad this was. I barely got a picture - as soon as he found the star glasses he switched.

Andrew has decided he doesn't need to sleep in pj's anymore. It's cute but it makes him seem like such a big kid! This picture sort of relates so I thought I'd throw it in here...

Aqua Sand!! I loved this stuff when I was a kid and it's just as cool as I remember.

goodnight, paci

Superheros don't need a paci...

This morning after breakfast I remembered to put Mason's paci up, so that made today the day that he only gets it when he's going to sleep. I'm happy to report I made the transition under my deadline of 18 months with a few days to spare!

I'm only worried about the drive home from school (maybe to school, too) and around 10:00 when he'd prefer to take a nap but I keep him up for lunch. Other than that, it shouldn't be a problem.

How is he already a year and a half?!

brothers

I was just playing around with my camera the other day and caught the boys being cute. The pictures were taken in my laundry room :) so you'll have to excuse the pile of socks in the first picture...

you knew it was coming...

... but maybe you didn't know Ryan would be in it. :) Go Seahawks!!

he'd rather have a sticker

We needed to go to Lowes today so we hit up their kids-build-stuff thing. Since Mason likes to do everything Andrew does, we thought we'd get him a kit too. He wasn't as excited as I thought he'd be. He was holding a pen and was more interested in drawing than hammering most the time. The thing they made was this cool game box with a chalk board lid, so I'm glad we got two. I'm sure Mason will want one when he sees Andrew using his.

When you complete the project you get a patch to put on your apron. Mason thought it was a sticker and we actually had to leave the store because he was so upset that it wasn't. That kid loves stickers. Hopefully that love will stick and I'll have an easy reward for him as he gets older! :)

dress it up

Andrew wasn't really into dress up until just a few months ago - Mason already loves it! And he loves to really layer it on. Here he's a robot tiger pumpkin who can transform into Robin (the Robin costume is the first layer).

Everything Andrew does is somehow superhero or transformer related. In this one (which has been the costume of choice for a few days now), he doesn't have to hold his bat unless he needs to get more power. Apparently he needed more power in order to survive posing for a picture. :)

sing

Mason loves to sing. I caught him at the very end of his performance - the video is only about 5 seconds long - but I think it's hilarious and if I don't put it on here it'll be forever lost in the files...

The best part is my parents bedroom door is on the other side of the TV stand and when I showed them this video they said they heard him. :)

happy new year!

We celebrated Christmas and New Years with my parents this weekend. It was a lot of fun packed into 2 days and I'm already looking forward to doing it again next year!!

These pictures don't have a lot to do with Christmas or New Years, but I got a new flash (that I'm still trying to figure out) and was having a lot of fun taking pictures!

go Seahawks!

We got these hats for Christmas and just happened to take a picture of each of us wearing them. Maybe our team spirit will get us a win tonight... Go Seahawks!

2010 in review

January.

We welcomed 2010 in with my parents. We came up with a great way to celebrate the holidays with our families and make sure we're not spending the whole time in the car. I think this will be the plan for many years to come!

February.

Andrew fell in love with trains! He played with trains, carried trains everywhere we went, watched trains on TV... We decided to go to Seattle and play around for a bit to give him the chance to ride the monorail since he loved trains to much.

March.

We finally found a church we love and were excited to be able to have our boys dedicated. Our pastor and his wife had their youngest son dedicated at the same service and ended up standing by us. There were around 15 families up on stage, so it's just kind of fun that we ended up by them.

April.

Matt took Andrew fishing for the first time and Andrew caught a fish!

May.

Andrew fell in love with pirates for a while. I decided it was the perfect excuse to have friends over for a little pirate party. :)

June.

Mason turned one!

Andrew went to his first movie - Toy Story 3.

July.

July was a busy month for us. We were lucky enough to go on two vacations - one with the Dyk/Miller family to Lake Entiat and one with Michael & Leslie's family to Mason Lake.

We also got the report back from Mason's evaluation at UW stating he's doing great and that his hypothyroidism isn't causing any concerns!

August.

We spent the day at Alki with a group of our bff's. This was one of the highlights of the summer for sure.

September.

Andrew moved into the pre-K class! Mason also moved out of the baby room. Both boys loved the change.

We also celebrated our 10th anniversary.

October.

Andrew went on his first field trip and I got to go along. His class went to Remlinger Farm.

November.

Andrew turned four!

December.

We went to Seattle to do some fun Christmas stuff and 'lucked out' to be at Nordstrom for a flash mob! We got a great spot - we were surrounded by singers! It was amazing.

Looking forward to 2011.
